Basic Center Program

Implements positive alternatives for runaway, homeless and street youth by improving their immediate and ongoing safety, well-being, self-sufficiency and permanent connections. Tahoe Youth's Basic Center Program focuses around a Comprehensive Youth Services Model and provides a full continuum of services including a 24-hour crisis line; gateway services; crisis intervention services; assessment; coordinated case management; individual,  and family counseling; emergency temporary shelter via Host Homes and safe alternative placements; and after-care services. Tahoe Youth integrates positive youth development and preventative services strategies into our culture of care by embracing harm-reduction and trauma-informed approaches in order to assist runaway, homeless and street youth in achieving safe, stable living arrangements and self-sufficiency.  

Drop-In Center

Located in South Lake Tahoe, California the Drop-In Center provides a safe, non-judgmental, welcoming environment for runaway, homeless and street youth a respite from the dangers of the street and to get their most basic needs met.

We provide:

  • Emergency Shelter for youth up to the age of 18
  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Hygiene supplies
  • Socks
  • Showers 
  • Laundry
  • Birth Certificates
  • State ID's
  • Sleeping Bags
  • Tents
  • Help to obtain employment
  • Help with college and vocational training
